Saturday August 12: Blessing ceremony with Sun, sky, land, and meteor shower

We begin by offering our love to the land in hands-on work, then potluck together, then gather on the lawn to offer healing energy to all beings, in this time of crisis. Those who wish may stay and watch the Perseid meteor shower, the moonrise, and perhaps greet the morning together.

This was inspired by the fact that this is the peak night for the Perseid meteor showers, the night is dark, weather forecast is beautiful, and we live in a quiet and dark place. And I haven’t had a retreat or work day all summer. So this is a beginning of returning to our shared life here.

Please come for any part or all. Bring friends. Let me know, for logistics; there’s a registration form. We’ll also communicate by email beforehand.

If you’d like to come early and help prepare, or help with farm projects, let me know. (We do have some carpentry projects and some chainsaw projects.) Here’s the overall plan:

• 2-3 arrival, get settled, set up a tent or find a sleeping spot if you like
• 3-6 outdoor work in the spirit of land care – listening, following – probably in the garden, possibly in woods or fields, possibly harvesting.
• 6-7 potluck
• 7-9 ceremony with plants and unknown beings.

For some time now, I’ve been envisioning gathering together as humans in relationship with all the other beings – plants, animals, insects, minerals, waters – listening, blessing, and opening the possibility of unlocking healing in this world and its crisis. If you’d like to offer a poem or something, let me know so I can include your gift.

• 9-10 open time, quiet time, preparation – get your blanket, adjust your eyes to the dark, etc.
• 10:15 watching meteor showers: These folks predict excellent viewing conditions and weather forecast is pleasant. I’m thinking to continue the ceremony and include the meteors and the moon.
• 2:05: a sliver of moon rises, for those still awake to see it.
• Any time: nap or bedtime whenever you like. Let me know if you’d like to camp or to sleep in the house. If you’d rather go home, of course that’s fine. We’ll sort out breakfast when we wake.
