Saturday afternoon outdoor volunteer days

Join us in working with the land Saturday afternoons, most weeks, 1-5 pm.

Expect to learn something, teach something, build community with people and make friends with the land. Before Covid, we had a bunch of people who came out often and made this a kind of rural home; we’re hoping to start that again.

September 30: sow wild rice in the creek (a short afternoon, or we might add another project)

October 7-21: Reserved for Earth Apprentice Training

October 28: full moon. I suggest a potluck and bonfire in early evening, after a project.

November 11: harvesting or foraging whatever is seasonal, or the options below.

Later: We’ll see, depending on weather, holidays, and what works for people.

Some of our options: moving raspberries or white pines, trail work, garden work, wood splitting, making biochar. Rain or cold: processing the harvest or canning and baking. If you want to bring children, let us know and we’ll work it out.

Notes: If you help us move/transplant things, you’ll be able to take some home.

ALSO: WE WORK ON MONDAY MORNINGS, 9-12 OR SO, AND WELCOME HELP.

This is more likely to involve power tools, heavy lifting, carpentry and plumbing – also things like cleaning and organizing the shop, laying carpet, whatever is needed. It’s just the time when we come together and do farm stuff. Like Saturdays, we’ll find a way to use the skills and abilities that you have, and we welcome learners. Unlike Saturdays, this is not a good time for younger kids due to safety. Middling and older kids, depends on the project – but it’s the school year now anyway.

Call or email at least a day before to set it up.
