Land Care Retreat – May 17-19, 2019

SPIRITUAL PRACTICE WITH THE NATURAL WORLD
Our intention in this retreat is to open to the natural world around us, learning to be members rather than owners. The meditation and Dharma talk times help us to drop away preconceptions, calm down, and be more available to the real teachers – woods, water, soils, our own bodies, the human community. The afternoon work times are for hands-on practice of listening to the land and responding to it in detail – soils, plants, whatever is requested. That work might be farming or wilderness care; either will involve intimate engagement with the earth and its beings.

We’ll spend some time in places on this land that have been specifically recognized as sacred, even while knowing that the whole world is sacred whether we feel it or not.

Friday evening: orientation, sharing circle, sitting meditation
Mornings: sitting and walking meditation, Dharma talk and conversation, breakfast and lunch
Afternoons: work guided by requests of the land; sharing circle
Evenings: supper, quiet time or meditation

Deposit: $20/day. Suggested fee: $40/day ($80 total). These minimal fees support the weekend and the land; additional donations may be made to support the teacher. For a work exchange scholarship, inquire about opportunities before the retreat. There will be work weekends and other possibilities.
