“To renounce things doesn’t mean to get rid of them, it means to accept that they go away.” Shunryu Suzuki
I will be offering a Dharma Talk at Clouds in Water Zen Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
The Buddhist concept of renunciation offers a rich and vivid way to encounter the world as it actually is. I’ll talk about this in context of our lives in this time.
When you join this talk, in person or online, you’re entering a bit of the life of a welcoming and vibrant Zen community. We start at 9:00 with zazen (sitting meditation) and kinhin (walking meditation), then an hour of talk/discussion opened and closed with short traditional Zen chanting.
It’s available online here, and it’s also offered in person at 445 Farrington Street, St. Paul. MN 55103, directions here. Face masks are required to enter the building. (This is correct information in early October; I’ll update it but you can also check the website for changes.)
