Call for prayer supporting Black Hills – September 6, 2 pm Mountain Time
Dear Friends,
If you are free this afternoon (or whatever time it is where you are), I ask you to join in ceremony, prayer, chanting, any offering of spirit, in support of Karen Little Thunder and others who will be offering traditional Lakota prayer outside the Federal courthouse in Rapid City. At stake is illegal or semi-legal lithium mining in the Black Hills.
Here is a link to more information about the court case, from the Black Hills Clean Water Alliance.
In addition, an ordinance controlling “hard rock mining” is being considered in the county where mines are threatened or begun. Here is a link to that information. Even though they have already started, you could include that in your action.
The request is for the MWA community to join in the prayers, from wherever you are, and however you pray. It’s good if you can be by water, but no matter. I will be here at a place called the Central Altar, by a creek, at a rock face full of spirit, offering meditation, prayer, and chanting on behalf of the place, He Sapa, which we know as the Black Hills. If you can join with others near you, so much the better, but we are all joined.
Mountains and Waters Alliance has many shapes; this one is our protection of the earth through raising energy. Sometimes I ask the earth to protect herself, and that is what I will be doing today.
If you join me or if you share this, I’ll be happy to know it, and can share it with Karen, who asked me to share widely.
Warmly,
Shodo
